Uber Black Car Service comes to the South Shore MassachusettsUber has finally made it to the South Shore, and everyone in Quincy and Braintree can use the company’s mobile app to summon a sleek black car at a moment’s notice. The Boston startup’s service has been expanding rapidly to offer coverage all over the Greater Boston area, providing riders a number of transportation options in addition to clever one-day promotions like Uber Ice Cream. Users of the app can request everything from an uberX (typically mid-range economy vehicles that can be up to 10% cheaper than a traditional taxi), an uberTAXI, or stylish black car sedans and SUVs. The app’s latest update allows users to split their fare with other passengers, which can make some rides as cheap as taking the T.

Uber has been partnering with a number of the area’s businesses, restaurants, clubs and other local organizations to raise awareness for its growing coverage on the South Shore. Folks heading to and from Marina Bay on the weekends have been very active Uber users, and the company is looking to boost demand during the week by encouraging people to use Uber for their daily transportation needs. People can use the app for their weekday commute to the local MBTA stop, or trips to the airport that beat competing shuttle services by a long shot. Users can also take an Uber into Boston for sports games, shopping or theater trips to avoid the hassle of parking in the city.
