Washington St. Bridge between Hanover & Pembroke, MA

The North River serves as town boundaries for Hanover and Pembroke as well Hanson from Pembroke.  For close to 200 years, the river was home to number of ship building yards which produced 3 notable ships; The Bedford, The Brig Beaver & The Columbia.

The Bedford was the first ship to display and American Flag in European waters in 1783

The Brig Beaver was one of the ships involved in the famous Boston Tea Party

The Columbia was the first US vessel to sail around the globe and discovered the columbia River in Oregon for which the river was named.
